We're joined by Tim Shiel, who established the awesome independent and artist run record label Spirit Level, a 'support group' of brilliant artists and musicians and a vessel to experiment with new ideas & technology via multiple emerging projects at a time. He is a radio announcer on Triple J and a renowned electronic musician who found his way into creating scores for revered video games.
Tim Shiel is an electronic musician who is well known for his work composing music for video games such as Duet, Induction and The Gardens Between. He is a radio announcer on Triple J/ Double J, and has interviewed hundreds upon thousands of musicians over the years and programs regular broadcasts showcasing emerging artists and generally damn good vibes.
Tim founded Spirit Level, an artist-run music label based in Melbourne, in 2014 alongside his long-time collaborator and friend Wally de Backer, aka Grammy-award winning producer Gotye. Since then, it has grown into a thriving community that nurtures diverse creative voices from around the world.
In 2020, Spirit Level launched a creative music tech lab called The Lab which will explore how music can be extended via the use of emerging technologies.
